From 6th May to the 1st of June 2019 SHIPO SMART Centre is hosting the training for local WASH entrepreneurs in Njombe. Drink & Donate, through SKAT Foundation, has been supporting this program since 2012, with the global objective of:
Improving the water self-supply market in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania
This year’s specific goals are to improve the technical skills of the artisans who belong to existing groups but have not been trained before and to update already trained entrepreneurs in new techniques, new SMARTechs and in marketing and business skills.
In the first week, the new drillers will dig a well in the T.A.G church in Njombe town while the new welders produce a Rope Pump at SHIPO workshop
In the second week, the experienced artisans will join the training. Together with the new trainees, they will share experiences and learn about new technologies: the drillers will be trained in tube recharge system production, cement tank construction and submersible pump installation; the welders will be trained in Hydrum pump.
The third week all the artisans will have the chance to learn how to produce a biosand filter for household water treatment.
On the forth and last week, the training will focus on business skills to capacitate the entrepreneurs in marketing their existing and new products, in accountability, in relationship with their clients, etc.
More about what is going on in the training coming soon!
